The Cochrane Tobacco Addiction Group are sorry to share that Kate Cahill passed away on the 15th September 2023. Kate was a long-time Managing Editor for the Cochrane Tobacco Addiction Group (Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford) until her retirement. She was also a former lecturer for Cochrane UK and until relatively recently a Cochrane copy editor. She was a highly dedicated and talented member of Cochrane and she won the Chris Silagy prize in 2009 for her commitment to the role.
As well as supporting our authors in conducting their reviews, she also authored many reviews herself and was a valuable asset to the tobacco control research community. Known for her wit and zest for life; she will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Kate’s funeral will take place in Oxford on the 5th October.
Donations are being taken for Thames Valley Air Ambulance on Kate’s behalf.
