Title: Evidence based medicine and COVID-19: navigating the infodemic

Background to the discussion

The COVID-19 pandemic has been a significant challenge for evidence based medicine.  How do we deal with the overwhelming amount of evidence being produced? How do we balance the need for high quality evidence against the desire to respond quickly in a rapidly changing environment?

The focus of this journal club will be on the impact of COVID-19 on evidence based medicine. Using this article on Ibuprofen and COVID-19, published in the BMJ https://www.bmj.com/content/368/bmj.m1086 as a starting point, we will explore how evidence based medicine has changed during the pandemic, the challenges facing trainees, and how organisations such as Cochrane, are developing resources to help.

See you at 3pm BST on the Saturday 13th June for the discussion and share the experiences.
