This year, the day before the Cochrane Colloquium, Saturday 15th September 2018, Cochrane UK hosted a ‘Fringe Event’ in Edinburgh. It was for trainees (of any speciality) and students (of any discipline) interested in evidence-based health care.
The day comprised a mixture of interactive workshops and inspirational talks from renowned speakers. Attendees learnt more about the work of Cochrane and were challenged to think critically about key issues in the world of evidence-based health care, such as patient and carer involvement in research and applying evidence in everyday practice.
Speakers included:
- Jennifer Johannsesen with Iain Chalmers
- Margaret McCartney
- Christine Borgman with Irene Pasquetto
- Caroline Withworth
- Anna Noel-Storr
We held a competition with a prize of free registration for the event, plus £50 worth of Oxford University Press book vouchers. Entrants were asked to submit a video explaining a concept within evidence-based practice or research. Congratulations to Sarah Tanveer, for her winning entry explaining the PICO (Patient, Intervention, Comparator, Outcome) Framework. Sarah's winning entry is below:
