Anne Eisinga awarded Chris Silagy Prize 2016 at Cochrane Colloquium Seoul

Congratulations to Anne Eisinga, Information Specialist at Cochrane UK, who was awarded the Chris Silagy Prize 2016

The Chris Silagy Prize is awarded at every Cochrane Colloquium to an individual who has made an “extraordinary” contribution to the Cochrane' s work.

The Prize consists of AU$1,000 (drawn from the Chris Silagy Memorial Fund), a certificate which includes the words 'for an extraordinary contribution to the work of The Cochrane Collaboration', and expenses associated with attending the Colloquium (to be met by Cochrane). Potential recipients of the Chris Silagy Prize are required to have:

  • made an extraordinary contribution to Cochrane;
  • made a contribution that exceeds the expectations of their employment;
  • made a contribution to Cochrane that would not be recognised outside the scope of this Prize;
  • been identified by their peers as consistently contributing to a spirit of collaboration.

Upon accepting the award, Anne shared these words:

Thank you so much for your kind words and for this extremely humbling honour. I am immensely grateful to so many of you, my friends and colleagues at Cochrane UK and across the wider collaboration, who, with patience, wisdom and kindness, have nurtured my involvement in Cochrane over these many years and who have been willing to receive my efforts, find worth therein and advise on how to make improvements. It is you who, by your continual encouragement and greatly valued support, I feel, are truly honoured by this award, for which I am delighted. I have been and continue to be privileged to work alongside and serve many outstanding people of integrity and compassion, whose lifework is dedicated to making a difference to the health and wellbeing of others, just as Chris Silagy’s was, a kind and generous-hearted man, an encourager, an enabler and an inspirational leader. I thoroughly enjoy being of service in whichever ways I am able to and will strive to do my very best to continue to serve the Cochrane family to the utmost of my abilities for as long as you find it helpful and I am able to do so. Thank you very much indeed.”
